Minnesota-based electric boat manufacturer Go-Float will soon expand to Fergus Falls.

The county and school board recently approved a Job Opportunity Building Zone sub-zone shift to relocate 1.72 acres to the Shoremaster Fabric building, which will soon be home to Go-Float’s second manufacturing operation. Because land can’t be added to JOBZs, the 1.72 acres had to be taken from a zone near the Prairie Wetlands. JOBZs provide local and state tax exemptions for qualified businesses.

Go-Float will provide at least eight new jobs with the potential to add up to 30 in Fergus Falls while keeping its 10 employees at its manufacturing facility in Hopkins.

Shoremaster Fabric will make the move to the former Banner Engineering building near Spee-Dee Delivery. The transition is expected to begin in October.

Go-Float has been developing electric boats for about 10 years. Go-Float offers several different models of electric boats that promise cleaner and more reliable boating.

“An emphasis on zero emissions, no-maintenance, super reliable boating allows Go-Float to deliver more fun and convenience on the water,” according to the company website.

I see nothing wrong with this. It’s a good thing to help small business but to claim someone did it all on their own is not factual. Here’s a sample of proof.– “JOBZs provide local and state tax exemptions for qualified businesses.” Folks, You helped!
