Otter Tail County COLA hosts award ceremony [UPDATED]
Published 10:20am Friday, August 17, 2012 Updated 12:23pm Friday, August 17, 2012On Aug. 25, Jerry Horgen, along with Department of Natural Resources Northwest Regional Director Lori Dowling, will co-host the Volunteer and Lake Association of the Year Award for Otter Tail County.
The awards program is in its third year and provides Otter Tail County lake groups with an opportunity to showcase what their valued volunteers are doing, individually or as a group.
The Otter Tail County COLA’s Volunteer of the Year Award is to inspire and recognize the achievements of an individual volunteer who has demonstrated talent, time and commitment to protect and preserve Otter Tail County’s lakes, rivers and wetlands for future generations. Nominees are Roger Neitzke, Shawn Olson, Ellen Palmer, Jeff Peltier and Bernie Steeves.
The Otter Tail County COLA’s Lake Association of the Year is an award given to a lake association that has successfully implemented a lake improvement project, or has successfully implemented an educational or outreach program, or has substantially increased membership and/or has successfully increased participation of their membership, or has successfully partnered with the local/county, state and/or federal government or other agencies.
The nominee is the Pelican Lake Property Owners Association.
The Otter Tail County COLA’s mission is to encourage and assist lake associations as they protect and preserve Otter Tail County lakes for future generations.
