What? John is clearly an idiot if he thinks that clearing the cattails is going to benefit the lake! Cattails along with various other plant spices and also trees, play a huge role in cleansing and maintaining a healthy environment! I agree with most everyone else on the fertilizer idea but more importantly pesticides and poisons are a bigger problem! And I disagree on not blaming ducks and geese because, over the years from the lake being neglected and the lake not able to overcome its ailments naturally, the fecal matter from all the ducks and geese added to the sediments deposited on Alice’s bottom! But more of a destructive bird that has indeed impacted the lake are cormorants! They killed all the trees on Alice island! The fecal matter from a cormorant is so toxic and highly acidic it will kill most any plant! And they are overpopulating the area and can’t be stopped cause they are a protected species!
