Concrete poured for bridge deck [UPDATED]
Published 11:00am Thursday, August 23, 2012 Updated 11:00am Thursday, August 23, 2012The Tower Road bridge project is moving along on schedule for a substantial completion by October, according to City Engineer Dan Edwards. Concrete for the bridge’s structural deck was poured Wednesday.
The structural deck ties various bridge elements together into a whole structure. Further work on the bridge will mostly consist of road safety additions or aesthetic installations; the concrete road overlay and some concrete railings (to reinforce the aesthetic railings) will likely be poured soon.
On the road work side of things, Edwards expects curb and gutter work to happen soon on Tower Road north of Lincoln Avenue and road work to continue south of the Otter Tail River.

FINALLY! the bridge will be completed after 40 years of debate.
It would be awfully nice if they would open the interstate again.
Will pedestrians be able to use it?
I agree, the interstate access needs to be reopened ASAP.
Lloyd, the bride is designed to incorporate both pedestrian and bike traffic. The bike trail on the north side will connect to a new bike trail on the south side. Its in the final plans of the bridge and the roundabout.
