Hornets sting Chargers

HENNING — The Henning Honets began their season on a positive note, while the Brandon-Evansville Chargers were singing the blues after the home team picked up a three set victory 25-6, 28-26 and 25-15.

The Hornets came on strong in the opening set as they cruised to an early victory.

The second set became a back and forth battle between the two Little Eight Conference teams. The Chargers saw a lot more hustle and were able to keep up with a tough Henning team, but the Hornets eventually won the set tie-breaker.

In the final set, the Hornets put away Brandon-Evansville with a 25-15 set victory for the win.

“We had a tough start to the year tonight against a good Henning team,” Chargers coach Kelly Olson said. “However, I saw a lot of hustle in the last two sets, and with a bounce or two in that second set we might have had a good match on our hands.”

The Hornets will be back in action Tuesday as they travel to take on the Hancock Owls at 7:15 p.m., while the Chargers will look to rebound against another LEC opponent in the Battle Lake Battlers at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
