FF girls calm Storm 103-81 [UPDATED]
Published 10:32am Friday, August 31, 2012 Updated 10:56am Friday, August 31, 2012The Fergus Falls girls swimming and diving team opened their home regular season with a 103-81 victory over pool visitor Sauk Rapid-Rice Thursday evening.
The Otters saw seven individual first place finishes and three first place relay team wins in the duel. Abby Fisher claimed firsts in the 100 fly (1:04.94) and the 100 backstroke (1:03.98), Dani Ross finished with firsts in the 50 free (:26.66) and 500 free (6:16.86), Emily Reard took top honors in the 200 IM (2:33.44) and 100 breaststroke (1:16.62) and Anne Childs captured a first place finish in the 200 freestyle (2:20.40).
The team of Fisher, Ross, Emily Hexum and Rachel Appert won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:59.06, while Fisher Ross Appert and Elise Anderson won the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:51.59.
In an exhibition race, Fisher, Appert, Anderson and Ross’ time of 4:02.88 in the 400 freestyle relay gave them the third of three first place relay finishes on the evening.
“This was a team victory,” Otter coach Tom Uvaas said. “I’m very excited and happy for this great group of girls. They raced hard and had some great individual breakout moments.”
The Otters will look to continue their early success as they travel to St. Cloud to take on the Apollo Eagles Thursday at 6 p.m.
