Harvest Fest, Pot O’ Gold highlight weekend

August is coming to a close, and kids are loading up their backpacks, but there is still one more weekend before the new school year begins. Underwood Harvest Festival, the Pot O’ Gold/Labor Day Classic golf tournament, the Marilyn Robinson concert benefit and many other area happenings will provide area residents with another great summer weekend.

The Underwood Harvest Festival could be great way for kids to wrap up a fun summer vacation. Events including a steak fry, family movie, fishing tournament, pork chop feed, parade and street dance will keep the whole family entertained.

The annual Pot O’ Gold golf tournament is one of the biggest of the year, and 64 golfers will compete in teams of two for 72 holes of golf over the long weekend.

The following is a list of some events coming up this weekend.

Friday

• Underwood Harvest Festival: Steak fry, 6 p.m. at the American Legion; Free family movie, 9 p.m. at the old football field; Dance to The Rockats, 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Marie’s Tavern

• Stock car races, 7 to 10 p.m. at I-94 Speedway

• Bruce Newman island time music, 7:30 p.m. at The Spot

Saturday

• Underwood Harvest Festival: Fishing tournament, 7 to 11 a.m. at Bass Lake; 5K/1 mile run/walk, 9 a.m. starting at Main Street; Pork chop feed, 11 a.m. at Farmers State Bank; Main parade 1 p.m.; Street dance, 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

• Unique Breed Open Show, 8 a.m. at the Red Horse Ranch Arena

• Pot O’ Gold and Labor Day Classic golf tournaments at Pebble Lake Golf Course

• Gathering of Airplanes, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Battle Lake Airport

Sunday

• Unique Breed Open Show, 8 a.m. at the Red Horse Ranch Arena

• Pot O’ Gold and Labor Day Classic golf tournaments at Pebble Lake Golf Course

• Mall Jam, 1 to 5 p.m. at the WestRidge Mall

• Concert day thanking contributers of the Marilyn Robinson benefit in Erhard: All-day festivities begin at 1:30 p.m.; Open jam, 5:30 p.m.; Off the Tracks to play from 6 to 7:30 p.m.; Alter Ego to perform from 7:30 to 9 p.m.; Southern Rock Legends will play last from 9:30 to 11 p.m.
