Former member Schierer files for FF City Council

Published 7:53am Friday, August 10, 2012 Updated 12:55pm Friday, August 10, 2012

Former Fergus Falls City Council member Ben Schierer filed Thursday to run against current Ward One Alderman Eric Shelstad.

Schierer was an alderman in the city’s Ward Four from 2004 to 2008. He did not file for reelection in 2008, and his seat was eventually won by JoEllen Thacker.

With Schierer’s entry into the race, the only uncontested seat left in the city council race is for the Ward Four seat currently held by Thacker. She has not yet filed for reelection, and the only person who has filed for the seat is Tim King.

The filing period for city council and school board ends Aug. 14.
