County board denies grade and fill permit for Lake Street [UPDATED]

The Otter Tail County Board unanimously denied a request for a grade and fill permit on Lake Street Tuesday morning.

Lake Street is a cartway that spans from Highway 78 to Otter Tail Lake. The board recently decided to allow the road to remain ungoverned by any road authority.

The requested grade and fill permit would have widened the driving surface and extended the gravel to 20 feet short of the ordinary high water level.

Commissioners questioned the reasons for the request and determined it was not in the county’s best interest to issue the permit.
