Women’s Expo Sept. 22

There will be something for women from all walks of life on Sept. 22 at the In Good Company Women’s Expo, planned from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fergus Falls Community Arena.

The free event will feature classes, panels and activities of all kinds, from health to cooking to fitness to the arts. A variety of products will also be available for women to peruse at more than 50 vendor booths. Event organizers are excited for the event lineup.

For those with cooking on the brain, the expo offers a plum lineup. PioneerCare’s expert chef Scott Meldahl, who has been attempting to score a spot on the Food Network show “Chopped,” will be sharing some cooking wisdom at 10 a.m., and he’ll be followed by expert baker Vicki Lee of the Ten Mile Steakhouse, Fred Sasseville of the Forest Lake Lodge and The Daily Journal’s own Sandy Albertson, who contributes popular and tasty entries to The Journal’s food blog.

Health advice will also be readily available, with speakers talking on topics as varied as varicose veins, cancer, women’s urology health, gynecology, and children’s lifestyle. Free health screenings will also be offered for bone density, cholesterol and glucose levels, dermatological issues, blood pressure and possibly more, materials permitting.

Fitness activities will be held throughout the day, with local yoga instructors hosting sessions and the YMCA contributing an activity as well. Finally, arts panels are still being organized.

Admission is free, and anyone who attends can register to win two tickets to a Carrie Underwood concert in Fargo on Sept. 29. Vender booth space is still available. For more information or to reserve a booth, call Connie Knapp at 218-739-7014.
