Evelyn Mary Hoeper, 84, of Fergus Falls
Published 4:01pm Wednesday, September 5, 2012 Updated 8:43am Thursday, September 6, 2012Evelyn Hoeper, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls.
She was born March 25, 1928, in Kent, the daughter of Julius and Josephine (Daurer) Hoefer. She attended country school near her home.
On May 20, 1947, she married Oren Hoeper at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood
Evelyn worked as a waitress throughout her life. She was a wife, mother, and homemaker. She enjoyed her retirement years babysitting the younger age children.
After losing her spouse, she sold the family farm and moved to her small cottage on Lincoln Avenue in Fergus Falls.
She was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Eagles, and St. Elizabeth’s Christian Mothers.
Evelyn enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing, and especially spending time with her family.
She loved to drive her friends out for coffee at Deb’s Kitchen. Her special gift was babysitting all the children that were entrusted to her care. She also would always make and decorate birthday cakes for all her grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Oren; a son, Jeffery Hoeper, a grandson, Tommy Rasmussen, a sister, Teresa Morton, and brothers John Hoefer and Donald Hoefer.
Survivors include her children, Mike (Chery) Hoeper, Richard (Dixie) Hoeper, Henry Hoeper, Tony Hoeper, Kevin (Anita) Hoeper, Connie (Antonio) Banuelos, Dawn (Gene) Barvels, and Gail (Allen) Rocholl; 49 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; sisters, Agnus Gehlert and AnneMae Green; brother Walter Hoefer; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; along with special adopted children.
Visitation: Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 11 a.m. Thursday, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Fergus Falls
