FF beats Alex in home opener [UPDATED]

The Fergus Falls Otter volleyball team was able to pick up a tough three set sweep over the visiting Alexandria Cardinals Tuesday (25-22, 25-23, 25-21) in a Central Lakes Conference showdown.

The Cardinals came into the match a more seasoned team, playing and developing their chemistry over six prior games.

“The girls were able to make adjustments and execute to get the win,” Otters coach Renee Erickson said. “Alex was throwing everything at us, but the girls took to the coaching and were able to get one at home.”

Brianna Rasmussen had a great night for the Otters on the courst as she recorded eight kills, 26 digs, was 22 for 22 serving and had three blocks in the victory.

Teammates Anna Monke (8), Laura Gaustad (7) and Morgan Hensch (6) were also on the offensive attack as they combined for 21 kills.

The Otters will now begin a tough schedule as they will play eight games in the next seven days beginning with a road trip to Sauk Rapids to take on the Storm Thursday at 7 p.m.
