A Fergus Falls man was tilling his garden Wednesday, Sept. 5 when he made a shocking discovery. He uncovered two headstones under an overgrown bush at his home near Lake Region Hospital.

The man called police at around 7:30 p.m. and reported the finding. One headstone reads, “Amos C Nelson Pvt. COF 13 Minn. Vols. Spanish American War March 27, 1877 to Jan. 5, 1941.” The other reads, Jacob A Nelson Corp. Co H 53 Inf. Civil War Dec. 30, 1839 to March 29, 1917.”
