ASHBY — The Hillcrest Comets saw a fired up Ashby Arrows team Thursday night as the Arrows laid claim to the Little Eight Conference battle 3-0 (25-16, 25-9, 25-12).

“I was very pleased tonight of the play of our right sides,” Arrows coach Brenda Johnson said. “They had good spacing and weren’t crawling up each other’s back.”

Ashby’s Bailey Funkhouser led the offensive attack with nine kills, while teammate Cassandra Jordan was 21 for 21 on serves and recorded five aces in the win.

The Arrows were amazing from the service line going 67 of 71 for 48 points and 15 aces.

Hillcrest has struggled in the early going as they have been swept in all of their first four matches.

The Comets will look to find their spark as they travel to Pelican Rapids Saturday for the Vikings’ Invite, while the Arrows will travel to Wheaton for the Warriors Invite Saturday.
