Candace Simar, author of the “Abercrombie Trail Series” novels, will be appearing and signing books at the Dalton Threshing Show from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Dalton Threshing grounds.

“Blooming Prairie,” the fourth and final novel in the historical fiction series, is set in 1870s Minnesota. The story take readers on a harrowing journey through grasshopper plagues, economic crisis and threatening Indian tensions.

Simar’s descriptive writing and vivid imaginings accurately depicts the stark isolation of immigrant life and the many challenges faced by Minnesotans struggling to tame the land. Simar possesses strong characterization skills that make these lonely women and determined men seem undeniably real.
