DETROIT LAKES – The Fergus Falls Otter girls just can’t find the right touch so far this season as they dropped to 1-5-1 after a 3-0 loss to the hosting Lakers Saturday.

Fergus started out the afternoon well as the Otter defenders were able to keep the wind and a strong Detroit Lakes attack at bay through the first half of play.

The Lakers came out ready in the second half was they used their passing attack to sneak the ball in the Fergus net near the 43 minute mark. The Otters continued to play tough defense and saw a few chances take a Laker bounce.

Detroit Lakes was able to put the game away as two goals late in the half sealed the deal.

“We just did not have enough today,” Otter coach Karoline Gustafson said. “We had some good plays and some good passing but we have been struggling to find the back of the net. Our defenders, Baker, Sawtell, Ellingson, Anderson and Melby played well and blocked some shots.”

Fergus goalie Rachel Heidorn had 13 saves in net.

The Otters will look forward to playing at home as they host the Moorhead Spuds at 4 p.m. at Kennedy Secondary soccer field Monday.
