Tower Road Bridge welcome [UPDATED]
Published 10:11am Monday, September 10, 2012 Updated 12:14pm Monday, September 10, 2012As anyone who dealt with the traffic along Lincoln, Union and Vernon avenues in Fergus Falls during the busy summer season can attest, the new Tower Road bridge will be more than welcome.
The project, which is scheduled to be completed in October, will no question provide relief not only to residents who live south of the Otter Tail River, but to everyone who drives to downtown Fergus Falls and the commercial district along Lincoln Avenue.
In addition, the bridge likely will spur additional economic development, including new housing, increased business for existing retailers, and potentially new businesses to serve those residents taking new routes to work.
Thanks to those who secured funding for, planned and constructed the bridge, one that will clearly move Fergus Falls into the future.
We can’t wait until October when it is done.

I’ve never really understood the logic behind the idea that this will alleviate traffic on Lincoln Avenue. If you are traveling to downtown or the eastern side of town, you are going to use Lincoln and Vernon and no bridge going north and south is going to change that. Further, highly doubtful that the project will be done by October. I guess that remains to be seen.
How dense are you?! It’s spelled out right in the article! The bridge will provide a shortcut for those in the southwest part of town, who currently have to drive east to Union, north to Lincoln, then west on Lincoln.
Obviously, if you live near the Eagles or the Y, you won’t use the bridge to go to the mall or Walmart. However, you might notice lighter traffic because of all the other cars that will now be able to use the bridge.
Wait… read an article??? Why on Earth would you do that? It is about time for this bridge to be done. Happy to see it.
Dense? You are so rude. I live this project every day and I can assure you I have a higher IQ than you. I get my information first hand and do not rely on articles in the Journal.
What is your IQ and who is your first hand source? Since you know more than the Journal, inquiring minds want to know?
I doubt very highly that your IQ is higher than mine. I could tell you mine, and you could just make up a higher number. If you told yours first, and I told mine, you could accuse me of the same thing.
But even if you have an extremely high IQ, common sense is what you seem to be missing. By your own admission, you don’t understand how the bridge will help. I think it’s very easy to understand.
I get very frustrated with people who criticize the bridge, and I guess I was taking that frustration out on you.
