This has become the story of the Fergus Falls Otter volleyball team this season and in Monday’s game against the Hawley Nuggets it was no different as they cruised to a three set victory (25-18, 25-14, 25-14).

The Otters played a tough first set with the Nuggets, but after a few defensive adjustments they were able to take the set and the eventual match.

“Hawley did a nice job at coming at right at us using their middle hitters,” Otter coach Renee Erickson said. “They did a nice job getting over our blocks, so we had to adjust our defense to their attack.”

Fergus was amazing from the service line as Brianna Rasmussen was 19 for 21 with five aces, while teammate Kate Groesbeck was 14-16 with four aces in the victory.

Defensively, the Otters were led by Devonie Smith and Laura Gaustad with 19 and 12 digs, respectively.

The Otters will finish their grueling week of play as they host the Rocori Spartans Tuesday at 7 p.m.
