On Saturday, August 25th, the Minnesota Elks Association hosted its annual State Soccer Shoot competition at the Elks Youth Camp near Nisswa, Minnesota. Tommy Thompson from Fergus Falls, an eighth-grader at Hillcrest Lutheran Academy, took first place in the 12 and 13 year old age group.

Second place went to Austin Martell of Thief River Falls and Tim Demarest of Faribault finished in third place.

Thirty-one kids ages 13 and under from across the state earned their way to this fun-filled, family-focused weekend event by winning their local and district shoots earlier this summer. In addition to the actual Soccer Shoot event, the participants and their families enjoyed a weekend of swimming, biking, kayaking, mini golf, basketball, fishing, hay rides and camp fires.
