LAKE CITY — The M State Spartan Men’s golf team finished in second with a 304 team total at The Jewel Golf Course Thursday.swept

The Spartans were edged by Northern Iowa Area CC (300), while Mesabi Range (306) rounded out the top three.

“It was another solid performance for us,” Spartan coach Jason Retzlaff said. “Our emphasis has been on continued improvement and peaking at the Region tournament. It would have been nice to have shot five better but NIACC is a very good team and they had someone put up a 68 which is very impressive.”

In individuals, M State’s Lucas Gervais took runner-up honors shooting a 73, while teammate Rob Goff finished tied for fourth with a 74.

The Spartans will now travel to Brainerd to compete at the Central Lakes Invite Sunday.
