The Comets were able to remain unbeaten on their home field as they played to a 1-1 tie with the East Grand Forks Green Wave Saturday.

Hillcrest got on the board first as Luis Martinez put a penalty kick into the back of the net in the first half.

The Green Wave would be able to salvage a tie as they used a penalty kick to tie the game with two minutes remaining.

“The Comets had several chances to break the game wide open during the contest, although attacking players could not find the back of the net,” Hillcrest coach Rod Jensen said. “The Comet defense played very well today, including Quincy Undseth, Chris Franco, Trevor Leach, and Jose Stender.”

The Comets will look to get a W next game as they host St. John’s Prep Thursday at 4 p.m.
