Spartan men take 1st at ‘The Preserve

PEQUOT LAKES — The M State Spartan men’s golf team took top honors as they won a MCAC tournament at The Preserve Sunday.

The Spartans won shooting a 315 team score. Mesabi Range (322) and Hibbing (351) rounded out the top three.

M State’s Lucas Gervais picked up another medalist win as he shot in four over for a 76 at the meet.

“Today was an interesting day as we knew it would be a close call to finish with darkness setting in,” Spartan coach Jason Retzlaff said. “ Our guys had a tough time in the middle of their rounds but came in with a great stretch at the end.”

The Spartan men will host their home tournament Monday at Pebble Lake Lake Golf Course. Tee times begin at noon.
