Police conducted compliance checks on about 20 Fergus Falls businesses Friday, Sept. 14, and Lakeway Market, the VFW and The Spot failed to ask for identification from underage decoys.

The VFW and The Spot may receive a civil fine of $500 each, but Lakeway Market faces a civil fine of $1,000 because this is Lakeway’s second compliance check failure in three years.

Each employee who sold alcohol to the underage decoys may face misdemeanor or criminal citation. All businesses checked, including those that failed, are members of the Fergus Falls Police Department’s Best Practices Program, which offers free training for alcohol servers.
