The Maroon and Gold Boys High School Hockey Boosters would like to thank the community of Fergus Falls for their tremendous support of the 13th Annual Lee Franklin Memorial Fund Golf Tournament.OBanion

The wind might have been gusting to 35 mpg on Saturday but the spirits of the golfers and volunteers remained high.

Funds raised during golf tournament are donated to Lee Franklin Memorial Fund and Maroon and Gold Boosters. Lee Franklin funds are used for scholarships awarded annually to selected graduating seniors that are pursuing a secondary education.

M&G Boosters funds are used during the hockey season to cover player transportation and meals, equipment, coaches’ pay, and promotion of hockey in Fergus Falls.

An example of how funds are used is bus upgrades. Fergus Falls High School as a member of Central Lakes Conference means many hockey games with two hours of traveling time in each direction that results in the students home after midnight on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Funds from tournament allow for bus upgrade from a standard to coach bus. The bus provides the players a better environment to study or sleep on the trip home. As it is the expectation that players do not miss any class time the following day.

Thank you to all the event sponsors and contributors your donations make a difference, the club believes in supporting those that support Maroon and Gold.
