Rockets sweep LEC foe Arrows
Published 10:33am Wednesday, September 19, 2012ASHBY — The Underwood Rockets were able to use a balanced attack to pick up a three set victory over Little Eight Conference rival Ashby Arrows Tuesday (25-12, 25-14, 25-14).
“We used a balanced attack against a scrappy Ashby defense to pull out the victory,” Rockets coach Diane Ross said.
Tara Skauge and Carly Masloski played excellent defense recording 10 digs a piece.
Masloski was also a top offensive performer in the match as she knocked in 20 kills.
“I was very pleased at how hard our girls worked,” Arrows coach Brenda Johnson said. “We are still in need of that hitter that can put the ball away for us when we need a sideout. You can only play so much defense before it eventually wears a team down.”
The Arrows were a 100 percent from the service line going 40 for 40 as a team.
Ashby’s Madison Van Saten and Cassandra Jordan combined for 16 set assists in the game.
The Rockets will look to extend their four game winning streak as they travel to take on Park Christian Thursday at 7:30 p.m., while the Arrows will look to breakout of their slump as they travel to take on Parkers Prairie at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
