Sheryl “Sheri” Leegaard, 53, of Barrett

Sheryl Leegaard, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at her home near Barrett, after a short but strong battle with cancer.

Sheryl Lynn Larson, daughter of Maynard and Luella (Kubitz) Larson was born on June 1, 1959, at Alexandria. She graduated from Hoffman High School in 1977, and graduated from St. Cloud Beauty College in St. Cloud in 1978.

Sheri moved to Fergus Falls, where she worked as a cosmetologist at “The Barbers.”

She married Robert “Bob” Leegaard on Sept. 20, 1980, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hoffman; through this union one son Joshua was born.

Following their marriage, the couple made their home near Hoffman. Through the years, Sheri worked at Cost Cutters in Alexandria and the Hoffman Super Market.

In 1990, the couple purchased a farm near Barrett, where Sheri worked for the Barrett Care Center until 2006, when she began working with her best friend Bob at Leegaard Repair.

She enjoyed flowers, taking care of her lawn, traveling and motorcycle trips. She loved her dogs and cats and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Leegaard, Barrett; one son, Josh, Minneapolis; her mother, Luella Stramer, Ashby; one sister, Deb (John) Foggia, Kenosha, Wis.; three brothers, Bruce (Heidi) Abel, Holmes City, Brad (Jody Schmidt) Abel, Underwood, and Stacy (Jen) Abel, Maple Grove.

She was preceded in death by her father, Maynard; her step-father, Delano Abel; and an infant sister, Bonnie Lou.

Visitation: Friday one hour prior to the service

Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, at the Barrett Pavilion

Clergy: Rev. Matthew Rose

Burial: Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Barrett

Funeral Home: Pedersen Funeral Home, Morris
