It’s time for the Talk of the Town
Published 11:36am Thursday, September 20, 2012Everyone is invited to this year’s annual Talk of the Town fundraising extravaganza for A Center for the Arts. This year, the annual event is on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 6 to 9 p.m. at M State’s Legacy Hall.
If you’re never been to a Talk of the Town, get ready for a fun night. For additional information on Talk of the Town or A Center for the Arts, call 218-998-2787 (ARTS) or visit www.FergusArts.org.
Tickets are on sale in the box office of AC4TA’s Fergus Theatre at 124 E. Lincoln Ave. in downtown Fergus Falls. Tickets are also available from AC4TA board members. The cost is $100 per person (but remember, this is our big fall fundraiser). Businesses, groups and friends can order tickets in tables of six or eight.
This special evening consists of social time, live and silent auctions, a sit-down dinner and entertainment by ComedySportz.
ComedySportz, based out of the Twin Cities, is improvisational comedy played as a sport! If you’ve ever seen Whose Line is it Anyway, you’ve got the general idea. Two teams of actors compete for the biggest laughs while a referee calls the fouls and gets suggestions from the audience. As their Web site says, ComedySportz is “Fun enough for a bachelor party. Clean enough for your grandma.”
Both the live and silent auctions feature life-experience items. Some of the fun and exciting offerings are: An airplane ride and pilot lesson, a day of sailing, a pottery lesson, a private evening concert with Anthony Miltich and David Stoddard, an opportunity to be a beekeeper for a day, fishing trips, movie nights, and much, much more.
This year’s dinner is a real treat. It features prime rib carved in front of you so you pick out the part that is exactly the way you want it. Dinner also includes garlic mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, salad and a lava cake with ice cream for dessert.
This will be a great night. For those not familiar with A Center for the Arts, it’s the perfect opportunity to get introduced to the organization and all it offers to our community.
