Bernard O. Loeks, 84, of Campbell

Bernard was born Nov. 5, 1927, to Benjamin and Ida (Donnan) Loeks at their home in Bradford Township, near Campbell. He attended Campbell, Doran and Breckenridge public schools through the 10th grade, leaving early to help on the family farm. In June of 1950, he met and married his sweetheart, Marceen Stargel. They moved to their current farm of 62 years in rural Campbell where they raised their family.
Never one to sit on the sidelines of life, Bernard was active in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he was an elder for 29 years and served in other capacities as well. He served on the Champion Township Board for 25 years and was a member of the Lions Club for more than 10 years. He considered it a privilege to give blood and was a member of the five-gallon club.
Bernard enjoyed the outdoors where he hunted pheasant and deer and fished with his family and friends. But his true love was farming where he raised dairy cattle until 1974, and farmed the land growing corn, soybeans, wheat, barley, sunflowers and sugar beets.
Bernard is survived by his of wife of 62 years, Marceen Loeks of Campbell; his four children, Debra (David) Loeks-Schroeder of Madison, Wis., Doreen (Charles) Bohn of Wahpeton, N.D., Jefferey (Shary) Loeks of Campbell, and Jud (Robin) Loeks of Elbow Lake; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; his sisters, Gloria Wateland, Clarabell Johnson, Binnie Strom; his brother Idell (Ally) Loeks and Toby (Dorothy) Loeks
Bernard was preceded in death by his parents Benjamin and Ida; his brother Wildy; his sisters-in-law, Delight Loeks and Eileen Loeks.
Visitation: Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the srvice at the church
Service: 11 a.m. Monday, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Campbell
