EL power company may merge with city

A petition signed by 82 Elbow Lake residents was brought to the city council recently. The petition was to put a question on the general election ballot that would ask the Elbow Lake Municipal Power Company Commission to be eliminated or merged with the city council.

The council approved the petition and turned it over to the city attorney who will have to determine if it is valid. If the petition is determined to be valid, the question could go on the Nov. 6 general election valid.

Elbow Lake residents who signed the petition believe that merging the Power Commission with the city council could save money.
