HLA boys shut out PiratesPublished 9:55am Wednesday, September 26, 2012
CROOKSTON — The Hillcrest Comet boys soccer team continued their winning ways Tuesday afternoon as they shutout the hosting Crookston Pirates 3-0.
The Comets got on the board early as a Luis Martinez pass found Chris Pelligrino’s foot to send the ball into the back of the Pirates net at the three minute mark.
The game would remain scoreless for the rest of the half as Hillcrest clung to a 1-0 lead.
In the second half, Pelligrino would strike one more time off a David Solberg corner kick 60 minutes into the contest.
Eduardo Urbano would add the icing to the cake for the Comets as a late goal sealed the victory.
Comet goalkeeper Vegard Hetlebakke turned away five Pirate shots on net to record his fourth shutout on the year.
The Comets look to end the month of September without a loss as host Walker-Hackensack-Akeley/Cass Lake-Bena in Pelican Rapids Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
