Up and coming MN bands to play at M State [UPDATED]
Published 9:15am Thursday, September 27, 2012 Updated 11:16am Thursday, September 27, 2012Local band Satin Strides will be the opening act for Twin Cities bands Tapes n’ Tapes and Zoo Animal in the second-annual Caravan du Nord concert in Fergus fall, which is again one of eight Minnesota towns chosen for the Caravan du Nord tour.
This concert will be held in M State’s Legacy Hall starting at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4. Festival seating allows people the freedom to move around during the concert.

Caravan du Nord, which features several up-and-coming Minnesota bands, is a project of 89.3 The Current and the Minnesota Music Coalition (MMC), brought to you locally by M State Fergus Falls and A Center for the Arts.
The eight-town Caravan du Nord tour includes workshops before each concert that are free and open to the public. Concert ticket information for each venue, along with each location’s featured bands, can be found at www.mnmusiccoalition.org.
Among the towns in the 2012 tour are: Morris on Sept. 22, Fergus Falls on Oct. 4, St. Cloud on Nov. 10, and Detroit Lakes on Nov. 16.
MMC is an organization that works to create partnerships between independent musicians, who are not traditionally viewed as members of the fine arts community, and presenters who are eager to connect with new audiences.
“Music needs to be treated as an important and valuable part of the arts,” said Tony Mendoza, MMC board president. “The goal of the MMC is to promote independent musicians throughout the state of Minnesota. We want the public to be excited about it and see the impact it can have when it becomes a significant part of our community.”
