Wood exhibit opens Oct. 2 [UPDATED]

As a culture we seem to be innately drawn to wood, and it seems to activate all of our senses. We marvel at the sight of endless forests of our North Country, the tree-lined lanes, a sentinel tree in the middle of a field that some farmer has preserved for unknown reasons. We love the smell.

So it seems only appropriate to highlight these artists in the community. The Kaddatz Gallery will be celebrating wood art in its upcoming exhibit “The Woodbutcher’s Art,” which will run from Oct. 2 through Nov. 10.

Artists reception and demonstrations will be on Thursday, Oct. 4, featuring Dick Werner, wood carver, and Phil Holtan and Paul Hedman, wood turners.

On Friday, Oct. 5, these three will talk and demonstrate to area high school and college students.

Saturday, Oct. 6 will be an open forum for all ages, with simultaneous demonstrations by each of the three artists.
