BL Good Samaritan Center to host Candidates Forum Oct. 4 [UPDATED]Published 9:27am Friday, September 28, 2012 Updated 11:29am Friday, September 28, 2012
Good Samaritan Society-Battle Lake is hosting a Candidates Forum beginning at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4. State Legislative Candidates from district (8A & 8B State Representative and Senate District 7 and Congressional District 7) will be in attendance. Primary focus will be long-term care issues. The forum will feature a question and answer session with candidates and a two minute timeframe for candidates to introduce themselves to the audience.
“We believe that people from the community will find the forum interesting and beneficial” said facility administrator Jim Wolf,
“With the looming crisis of the impending aging of baby boomers in Minnesota, it is vital that we have a legislature that appreciates the work that is done in our facilities by personal care staff throughout the state. We must acknowledge and be willing to solve this growing challenge through funding and other creative solutions,” Wolf continued.
A lunch will be provided all participants while the forum continues throughout the noon-hour. The forum will be held in conjunction with the Long-Term Care Imperitive, a joint coalition of Care Providers of Minnesota and the Minnesota Health and Housing Alliance. The state’s two trade associations represent nursing homes, assisted living/housing-with-services providers, and other long-term care providers.
