Comet boys blank Johnnies 2-0

Published 9:27am Friday, September 21, 2012

The Hillcrest Comet boys soccer team recorded a 2-0 shutout of St. John’s Prep Thursday afternoon at Hillcrest soccer field.

The Comets were able to get on top at the 24 minute mark as Kevin Franco buried the ball in the back of the Johnnies net.

In the second half, Daniel Romarheim iced the game with Hillcrest second goal of the match.

“The Comet defense did an excellent job thwarting the Johnnie attack,” Comet coach Rod Jensen said. “Trevor Leach, Chris Franco, Quincy Undseth and Edgar Diaz controlled the backfield and kept the ball forward the entire game.”

The Comets allowed only four shots on goal, which were all saved by goalie Vegard Hettlebakke.

The Comets will look to stay on their September tear as they travel to Crookston for a 6 p.m. match against the Pirates Tuesday.
