Viking defeat Battlers in three sets

Published 10:05am Tuesday, September 18, 2012

BATTLE LAKE — The Pelican Rapids Vikings were able to shake off the Mondays as they defeated Battle Lake in three sets (25-21, 25-14, 25-21).

“I was a little worried tonight,” Vikings coach Heidi Isaman. “Monday games have been a little rough to get in our groove since we don’t have school on Mondays. The girls started a little quiet and a little slow moving, but found their grove as the night went on.”

Lincoln Haiby led the Pelican Rapids Offensive attack with 10 kills, while teammate Alyssa Huseby added 8 of her own in the victory.

The Viking defense was led by Kendra Weinrich and Mackenzie Korf, who each had 12 digs in the match.

The Vikings look to protect their unblemished record as they travel to Staples Tuesday for a 7:30 p.m. matchup against the Cardinals.
