GARY — The Rothsay Tigers could not stop Sawyer Stene as Norman County East took home a 48-22 victory Friday.

The Tigers suffered a few injuries during the game, but were able to go in the break down five.

In the second half, Rothsay could not stop the charge of East as the Eagles flew away with the score.

“I am really happy with how well our guys played, especially since we have developed a bad habit of letting our opponents into the endzone early,” Tiger coach Andrew Oland said. “ We broke away from this habit against the Eagles but weren’t able to make it close at the end due to injuries.”

Stene scored five touchdowns and ran for 353 yards on 38 carries.

Rothsay’s quarterback, Noah Brenden, finished the game with 78 yards rushing on nine carries and threw for an impressive 12 completions on 18 attempts, totaling 156 yards and two touchdowns

The Tigers will look to rebound as they host Ada-Borup Friday at 7 p.m. for Parents’ night.
