Serious injuries in PR crash

Two people were hurt, at least one seriously, in a crash on County Highway 9 north of Pelican Rapids this morning.

According to law enforcement, the crash occurred around 7:45 a.m. A Kia SUV with two occupants was headed north on Highway 9 when a Chevrolet pickup drove onto the road from 450th Street.

The two vehicles collided, injuring the occupants of the SUV.

The names of the people involved in the accident have not been released.

One of the injured people was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes, and the person with more serious injuries was taken to Lake Region Hospital before being transported by air to Sanford Hospital in Fargo.

The Minnesota State Patrol handled the crash, as County Highway 9 is currently part of a detour for U.S. Highway 59.
