County may see winter weather

Published 11:31am Wednesday, October 3, 2012

Otter Tail County may finally get some precipitation soon, but it may not be the precipitation people are thinking of.

The National Weather Service has the county under a hazardous weather outlook today. The county is on the edge of a predicted winter storm area, which could dump as much as six inches of snow on some locations near the north Red River Valley.

Though Otter Tail County is not at the center of the predicted snowfall, the weather service predicted a possible rainfall in the area today, which could turn into snow overnight. In the next few days, snowfall will be heavier, and the weather service advised that reduced visibility may become a factor.

Though Otter Tail County may not be the hardest-hit location, the weather service noted that the path of the weather system is uncertain at this time and could shift slightly as it approaches northwest Minnesota.
