A Dent predatory offender made his first court appearance Monday for allegedly possessing child pornography.

Steven Alan Tryggeseth, 59, was charged in early September with four counts of possessing pornographic work as a predatory offender.

Court records state that an acquaintance of Tryggeseth’s accidentally discovered the child porn on an external hard drive he had access to.

Local law enforcement began investigating the case in May 2011, when a woman turned over the hard drive and computer the files were found on.

Over the next year, ICE agents investigated the files to determine if they were in fact child pornography before determining that they were part of a known series of videos.

Tryggeseth was convicted in 2005 for possessing child pornography and was required to register as a sex offender.
