2 artists to give mosaic, weaving classes at the RCC [UPDATED]
Published 10:14am Thursday, October 4, 2012 Updated 12:15pm Thursday, October 4, 2012Pam Collins, a mosaic artist from Staples, will teach the techniques of mosaic art at the Cultural Center’s new Continental Divide Folk School in New York Mills from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20.
Students will leave the class with a mirror or a wall hanging.
Maximum enrollment for the mosaic workshops is eight persons and tuition is $90 for the two sessions (this includes all supplies and materials). The class is designed for persons who may not consider themselves artists but want to explore their creative side.
Lil McRae from At Loose Ends weaving and yarn shop in Perham will teach the basics of weaving on the rigid heddle loom Tuesday nights from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 9, 16, and 23.
Lil has looms for rent ($25 for the duration of the class) and there are several available for loan at the Center.
Tuition for this class is $60 for the four sessions plus materials cost.

Patriotism program planned Sunday
“Norman Rockwell and Patriotism,” a free presentation by Dale Blanshan at the ITOW Veterans Museum in Perham Sunday
Join Dale Blanshan at 3 p.m. for an entertaining tour of selections of Rockwell paintings about soldiers and the American spirit. His presentation is accompanied by the patriotic music that has stirred hearts through the course of our 200-year history including music for the Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force, mothers and the girls left behind.
The program is free and open to the public.
