Bernice T. Halvorson, 91, of Fergus Falls

Bernice Halvorson, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at Broen Home in Fergus Falls.

She was born May 13, 1921, at Leeds, N.D., the daughter of Bernt and Josephine (Strand) Hanson. She was baptized and confirmed at the Leeds Lutheran Church.

She grew up and attended school in the Leeds area, graduating from the Leeds High School in 1939. She lived in the Leeds, California and Minneapolis areas prior to her marriage.

On Nov. 15, 1947, she married Walter Halvorson in Fargo. They operated the family farm in Leeds until 1949, also living at Lakota and Lisbon, N.D.

In 1953, the couple moved to Fergus Falls. She was employed at Broen Home for many years. After her husband retired in 1983 from the Regional Treatment Center, they spent their winters in Tucson, Ariz.

Through the years, her faith and family have been at the center of her life. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, planning for holiday gatherings and entertaining.

She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband of 64 years, Walter; a brother, Marven; a sister, Esther; and a son-in-law, Norman Larsen.

Survivors include her daughters, Marilyn (Phil) LaBrosse of Arden Hills, and Betty Larsen of Tucson, Ariz.; a son, Robert (Pam) Halvorson of Duluth; five grandchildren, Jeremy, Jessica, Christine, Lindsay and Ashley; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service at Broen Home

Service: 2:30 p.m. Saturday, at the Light and Life Auditorium of the Broen Home, Fergus Falls

Clergy: Chaplain Ken Austin

Burial: Bethlehem Cemetery, Fergus Falls
