LRH lab receives national accreditations [UPDATED]

Lake Region Healthcare Laboratory Services earns accreditation from two national programs for its continued commitment to quality and service.
The core lab was awarded College of American Pathologists (CAP) accreditation as a result of an on-site inspection. The US Federal government recognizes the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program as being equal-to or more-stringent than the government’s own inspection program.
The Walk-In Clinic and the Battle Lake Clinic labs were also awarded Laboratory Accreditation by COLA, a national healthcare accreditation organization.
Lake Region Healthcare Laboratory Services has these accreditations as a result of long-term commitment to provide quality service to its patients.
“National accreditation is just one of many ways we seek to ensure our patients receive the highest quality care on a day to day basis,” said Lake Region Healthcare CEO, Larry Schulz. “The staff in our labs work very hard to do their part in achieving our vision to be Minnesota’s preeminent regional health care partner and this recognition of their dedication is well-deserved.”
CAP accreditation involves examination of the lab’s records and quality control, staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program and record and overall management.
COLA accreditation is given only to laboratories that apply rigid standards of quality in day-to-day operations, demonstrate continued accuracy in the performance of proficiency testing and pass a rigorous on-site laboratory survey.
COLA is a non-profit, physician-directed organization promoting quality and excellence in medicine and patient care through programs of voluntary education, achievement and accreditation.
COLA is approved by the federal government and sponsored by the American Academy of Family Physicians, The American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians-American Society of Medicine.
