Have you been wanting to get in shape? Are you looking for a fitness facility with a variety of options? Has your only experience with the YMCA come from the Village People song?

If so, the Fergus Falls YMCA are hoping you’ll stop by for their week-long open house.

The open house, which started Monday and lasts through Sunday, allows anyone in the area to come into the Fergus Falls YMCA to check out the facilities and exercise for free. The local facility is counting on the public’s interest in the YMCA’s many fitness amenities, including exercise equipment, basketball courts, a swimming pool, a weight room and much more, said Executive Director Tim Olson.

Olson is also excited about a new fitness option coming soon to the facility: spin bikes. Twelve of the exercise bikes will be available in a downstairs room, and the YMCA will be offering classes to exercise in a group setting.

“It’s a great cardiovascular exercise,” said Olson, adding, “(Everyone) will be able to pull energy off of each other and motivation from each other.”

Olson has seen the popularity of the bikes at other YMCAs and said people are already getting excited about the bikes locally.

“I think this is going to be a huge hit,” he said.
