Tigers blank FF boys 3-0Published 10:19am Friday, October 5, 2012
The Fergus Falls boys soccer team closed out their regular season Thursday evening as they fell to the St. Cloud Tech Tigers 3-0.
The Tigers were able to get on the board early as a ball slipped out of Fergus goalie Trey Edwards hands at the four minute mark.
Tech would add another goal 35 minutes into the contest as a free kick sailed to Kaleb Woodman and he booted it in for a 2-0 lead.
The Otters played the first half with the wind at their backs allowing for several scoring opportunities, but they could not put the ball through the pipes as they left down two at the break.
In the second half, the Otters were mostly on the defensive end as the fought to move the ball against the wind.
Tech would add the final goal of the game 15 minutes into the half as a redirected shot found the back of the Fergus net.
“We created more scoring opportunities in tonight’s game than any other game this season,” Otter coach Beau Krueger said. “The Otters were really able to step up their efforts in spite of some pretty nasty weather.”
The Otters finish their regular season at 1-13-2 and will wait for seeding in the Section 8A tournament.
