Published 10:22am Friday, October 5, 2012

PELICAN RAPIDS — In a big Heart O’Lakes Conference matchup, the hosting Vikings were able to get the better of the Perham Yellowjackets Thursday in five sets (16-25, 25-15, 14-25, 25-23, 15-13).

“This was our first 5 set match of the year and I was very proud of how these girls kept fighting and showed their will to win,” Vikings coach Heidi Isaman said. “It has been several years since we have beaten Perham and to do it at home at our elementary autograph night was pretty special.”

Lizzie Pfeifle was tough defensively for Pelican tallying 30 digs, while teammate Alyssa Huseby led the offensive attack with 11 kills.

The Vikings will have a very packed week beginning with a match at Park Rapids Area Monday at 7:30 p.m.
