Trojans sweep Vikings in finale

Published 8:57am Wednesday, October 17, 2012

BARNESVILLE – The Pelican Rapids Vikings suffered a three set sweep (25-19, 25-23, 25-14) by Heart O’Lakes conference rival the Barnesville Trojans Tuesday.

The Vikings were without outside hitter Kendra Weinrich, after she sustained an injury in a previous match.

“This was a very hard loss for us,” Vikings coach Heidi Isaman said. “ It was difficult playing without Kendra and knowing how much pressure was on this game for conference and post season standing. All we can do is learn and move forward looking on to tournaments next week.”

Lizzie Pfeifle led the Vikings on defense with 17 digs, while Alyssa Huseby took charge on offense with 10 kills in the match.

The Vikings will now wait to be seeded in the Section 8AA playoffs.
