RR depot restoration benefits all [UPDATED]

The recent purchase of the old railroad depot building by Realtor Bruce Fuhrman is indeed good news.

Who hasn’t driven by the depot and wondered what could be in the future of the building laden with character and nostalgia for days gone by?

Nestled between the public library and the building which houses Trendz Hair Lounge and Somethin’s Brewing sandwich and coffee shop, it seems a perfect location for any number of potential businesses or shops.

Fuhrman is taking an investment risk, but we truly hope he will be able to retain the depot’s character and tenants will quickly line up to fill the spaces, whatever direction he goes, whether it be office space or shops or something other direction.

While the RTC appears to be too monumental of a project for investors take on financially, we are happy to see a local businessman consider a smaller restoration project that retains the city’s architectural history. All residents benefit from preserving these buildings.
