Ashby girl dies from injuries in Oct. 14 crash

Claire Turner, 11, of Ashby died this morning from injuries suffered in an Oct. 14 rollover near Spitzer Lake.

The single-vehicle accident occurred at around 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of county highways 38 and 81. An adult female was driving the SUV westbound when she lost control.

The vehicle entered the north ditch and rolled, ejecting the girl from the back seat. She was not wearing a seat belt, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s office.

The girl was taken to Lake Region Healthcare and was later airlifted to Sanford Hospital, where she died today. The driver and two other passengers were taken to Lake Region Healthcare where they were treated and released.
