House fire may have been set

Arson is suspected in the fire that destroyed a vacant house near Concord bridge Wednesday night.

Nobody has lived at the house for several years, but it is owned by city council member Randy Synstelien. The fire occurred at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at 720 Riverside Ave.

A combination of the gas and power being shut off along with physical evidence at the scene has led investigators to believe foul play may have been involved.

An investigation involving the state fire marshal, Fergus Falls Fire Department and Fergus Falls Police Department is underway.

Investigators are asking for help from the community. Anyone who has noticed suspicious activity in the area within the last couple weeks is encouraged to call 218-332-5555 and ask to speak with an investigator.

The cost of damage has not yet been released.
