Lillian Grossman, died October 18, 2012, in the care of Red River Valley Hospice at the Pelican Valley Nursing Home, Pelican Rapids.

Lillian Verna Beckman was born February 19, 1928 in Elizabeth Township, Elizabeth, the daughter of Robert “Walter” and Katherine (Bakke) Beckman. She was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church, Erhard. She attended country school near Erhard and earned her GED in 1976. Lillian was united in marriage to Merle Grossman September 24, 1950, near Erhard. She trained in home health aid care and gave her time helping families at home until April, 2011. She cleaned cabins, residences and businesses for over 40 years. Lillian entered Frazee Care Center October 2011, moving to Good Sam at Pelican Rapids January 2012, and Pelican Valley Nursing Home August 2012.

Lillian was a member of First Congregational Church where she was active in the ladies aid, choir, Sunday School teacher and cooking for the Rotary Club. She was a member of her homemakers club and the Tri Club Center. Lillian was a faithful supporter and walker with the A.L.S. in honor and memory of her son, Alan. She was member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary for over 40 years.

In her younger years she enjoyed riding motorcycle, open cockpit airplanes, and traveled with a carnival. In later years she enjoyed raising her family, gardening, canning, making donuts and lefse.

Lillian is survived by her husband, Merle; family: Evie Beste and Pearl (Jim) Schultz, Pelican Rapids, MN, Karen (Brad) Feir, Moorhead, MN, daughter-in-law, Shelly Kannianen, Stanley, ND, Glen (Karen) Grossman, Blaine, MN, Marie (Brad) Mollner, Long Prairie, MN, Ruth (Dale) Hetland and Kathy (Brian) Gross, Fargo, ND; 26 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister: Helen Ripley, Erhard, MN; brothers: Herman Beckman, Pelican Rapids, MN and Eugene (Linda) Beckman, Chisholm, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Alan, and two infant sons; grandson, Troy Schultz; two brothers, Kenneth and Orville; father and mother-in-law, William Earl and Florence (Richards) Grossman; brother-in-law, Gerald Ripley; and niece, Susan Longfors.

Visitation: 4-6 p.m. Friday, October 26 at First Congregational Church with a prayer service at 6 p.m. Visitation resumes one hour prior to the service at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, October 27 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids
